Gene Fruchtman has been a licensed massage therapist and an NSCA certified personal trainer in Seattle for 28 years.
He specializes in injury treatment, injury prevention and sports performance training focused on correcting conditions that cause suboptimal athletic performance and injuries.
Gene is also a healing coach. His philosophy is that recovering from an injury is a skill, which requires strategy with a particular mindset. This leads to an active mental as well as physical participation, not only passive rest.
Gene’s passion for athletics and massage emerged after he experienced tremendous therapeutic effects from combining intelligent athletic training, massage paired with structural medicine. Pairing bodywork with corrective exercises, Gene healed an old knee injury that he had incurred as a competitive athlete in high school.
Following his success restoring himself to full athletic function (from a torn ACL and meniscal tears in the knee), Gene evolved in to a strong versatile athlete. This led him to his current carrier as a Structural Integration massage therapist and personal trainer. Using his educational background in architecture, paired with education in Advanced Myofascial Release Massage, Structural Integration therapies, and biomechanics, Gene developed a passion for helping individuals perform at their highest levels.
Over the nearly 3 decades, Gene has developed his own system and approach to effectively evaluate and successfully treat a multitude of muscular injuries.
Completely customized, his therapies utilize real time data gathered through touch and other sensory observations such as posture and biomechanical analysis as well as comprehensive subjective reports from clients.
The therapy thus progresses based on real time changes occurring in each session. These changes result not only from common table laying positions, but from seated and standing positions as well. Depending on the condition in treatment, therapy may occur while a client is performing movements or therapeutic exercises.
Bodywork is performed on a system of muscles, which contributes to acute or chronic pain and dysfunction. This results in detailed work on muscles, which may not be near the site of the symptom. The old adage “everything in the body is connected” reveals in positive and surprising outcomes.
Gene’s therapeutic goal is targeted elimination of chronic and acute muscular pain. He designs each treatment with specific goal of offering measurable decrease in pain and discomfort from each session. This is accomplished in part by maintaining a clear sense of purpose to insure the best possible therapeutic outcomes.
Gene designs corrective exercises that complement muscular treatments to help increase their effectiveness.
Trained in Advanced Myofascial Release Techniques, Deep Tissue, Somasagge, Hellerwork, cupping, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Lomi Lomi as well as many other bodywork methodologies, Gene understands the value of bodywork modalities and their ability to eliminate pain and restore muscular balance around a joint.
Gene is experienced in working with competitive athletes in a wide range of sports including track and field, soccer, football, baseball, tennis, racquetball, golf, figure skating, cycling, and mixed martial arts. He has established himself as a go to therapist among many locally, nationally and internationally recognized coaches as well as local physicians.
Gene is a graduate of Washington State University and Brenneke School of Massage. Throughout his career, Gene has continued to enhance his knowledge by taking courses from institutions of higher learning such as University of Houston, Lake Washington Technical College, North Seattle Community College, Master massage educators, and attended numerous Strength and Fitness conventions and clinics. Gene also holds an Intraoral Endorsement from Washington State Department of health.
